American Indian Studies Center Open House Event

The UCLA American Indian Studies Center invites you to attend an Open House Event in conjunction with our 40th Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday, November 24th from 2pm - 5pm in 3220 Campbell Hall.  Please come meet faculty, students, AISC staff, and community members.

We are especially excited to welcome new and recent faculty hires as well as incoming AIS and Native students.

Institute of American Cultures Visiting Scholar, 2009-10

The American Indian Studies Center welcomes Professor Amy Lonetree as our Institute of American Cultures Visiting Scholar, 2009-10.

Professor Lonetree is currently a faculty member at UC Santa Cruz in the American Studies Department.

Areas of Expertise: Indigenous History, Museum Studies, Memory and American History, Native American Cultural Production, Public History, and Ho-Chunk Tribal History. For more information, please click here.

Gathering Native/American Scholars and Artists: A Celebration of Forty Years

On behalf of the faculty, students, and staff of the UCLA American Indian Studies Center, I am honored to invite you to join us on Thursday and Friday, October 22-23, 2009, for a reception and symposium celebrating the 40th anniversary of our center and the American Indian Culture and Research Journal. This will be an opportunity to recognize and honor the many achievements of the hundreds of scholars, intellectuals, artists, and students who have been affiliated with our program, our books, and our journal since the Center's inception as well as look ahead to the next 40 years. Admission is complimentary, but we respectfully ask you to RSVP by Monday, October 12, 2009. RSVP/REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. You are welcome to attend the reception and symposium. However, the catered events and parking spots are no longer available as of October 20th. We look forward to seeing you! Thank You.
