Tenured or Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty Appointment

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position for an Indigenous Studies scholar in anthropology, sociology, history, or related fields. This open-rank search primarily seeks an Assistant or Associate rank candidate. However, more senior candidates may be considered if appropriate. The position is held by the UCLA American Indian Studies Center (AISC) and the successful candidate will be housed in the relevant disciplinary department, with teaching and service responsibilities split between the department and American Indian Studies.

We are seeking an Indigenous Studies scholar with an expertise in tribal or community politics and governance. The successful candidate will have a strong record of research productivity, demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding, commitment to student mentoring and supervision, and teaching excellence. Although geographic area is open, the successful candidate will have the ability to teach courses on U.S. tribal politics. Evidence of sustained engagement with Indigenous communities is imperative. Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2017. Salary will be commensurate with experience and level of appointment.
