Please join us for a conversation with Brian Carpenter, Curator of Native American Materials American Philosophical Society. Brian will share the experiences ofAmerican Philosophical Society Library (APS) on digitizing and describing APS collections in collaboration with Indigenous communities. He will also talk about the history of creation, and the functioning of the American Philosophical Society Protocols for the Treatment of Indigenous Material, that resulted from 3 years of collaboration between the APS library staff, and representatives from the Tuscarora Nation, Eastern Shawnee, Pueblo of Isleta, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Cherokee Nation, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Penobscot Nation, and Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne.
