Native Nations Rising: Progress and Promise

Friday, December 4, 2020
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Zoom - online event

The 2020 national election saw a record number of Indigenous and Native American law makers elected to congress and long overdue recognition of the power of the Native American vote in swing states like Arizona and Wisconsin. While this sudden spotlight on Native Americans surprised many, this growth in influence has been the result of decades of organizing, legal challenges, and advancing tribal cultural and legal values. Speakers include Angela Riley, Professor at UCLA Law; Carole Goldberg, Professor at UCLA Law; Greg Sarris, Chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria; and John Echohawk, Founder of the Native American Rights Fund.
